Water and salt chemistry. Thanks to the electrolysis of these two raw materials of great purity we can produce Chlorine, Caustic Soda, Hydrogen and Sodium Chlorate.
Through their usage as a final or intermediate product in other syntheses, they allow us to produce a very high percentage of the goods and products of common use available to society.

Step 1
Add a tablespoon of salt to a glass of water
Step 2
Stir until the salt is dissolved
Step 3
Make two holes in a piece of cardboard and place two pointed pencils on both ends
Step 4
Place the cardboard on top of the glass and dip the pencils in it.
Step 5
Connect the pencil ends to a 4.5 volt flask battery for 10 seconds
Step 6
Do you recognize the smell? Salt water is transformed into chlorinated water, like that of swimming pools, through electrolysis. ATTENTION: Do not drink the water after the experiment!
